Our Academic Competitions
Discover ACE uOttawa’s vibrant and dynamic academic events! Throughout the year, we engage in three key competitions. Each competition is tailed to foster diverse growth opportunities, facilitate networking with various individuals and challenge participants with unique academic twists. With training provided ahead of each competition, will you feel ready to ACE the case?
ACE uottawa Invitationals
Invitationals is our club’s flagship internal case competition, purposefully designed to challenge and prepare delegates for the pressure at the national competition. During this all-day event, participants will tackle expertly developed cases, present to judges, engage in workshops, and network with alumni and industry professionals— from local firms to the prestigious Big Four.
This competition traditionally takes place on a Saturday in late October or early November. In previous years, the academic portion took place between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., with a social event later in the evening to unwind.
Lunch and writing materials will be provided to each participant.
ace canada nationals
Our chapter is associated to a national organization. Every year, ACE brings together over 1,000 delegates from all-over Canada. During this weekend-long conference, students represent their university and compete across various academic categories similar to the Olympics.
Beyond the competition, delegates have the opportunity to network with peers from other universities and industry professionals at social, dinner, and workshop events. The conference also serves as a great platform to connect with recruiters, judges and sponsors in each category’s industry.
Traditionally, this competition take place in late January and is held at the Sheraton in Toronto’s financial district. Our chapter’s delegation departs Ottawa on Friday morning and returns Sunday evening.
ace/uoca consult-a-thon
Pioneered in 2024 as a strategic partnership between ACE uOttawa and the University of Ottawa’s Consulting Association (UOCA), our Consult-a-thon competition focuses on the Management Consulting (MCO) category.
In addition to the standard competitive environment, this team event features several workshops in the days leading up. Participants connect with alumni, who now work at major consulting firms, to gain a great deal of technical insight into the world of consulting.
Cases are released several days ahead of the competition, giving participants the proper time to prepare a solution. Whereas our other events traditionally rely on impromptu thinking, Consult-a-thon emphasizes research. Teams will present their logic in a way that aligns with real facts.
